The Las Vegas Sun is reporting that Wynn Resorts and PokerStars have created a strategic partnership. They will work together in the hopes to get legalization and regulation passed as soon as possible.
This is big news to me. Even though Caesar’s Entertainment (formerly known as Harrah’s) created a partnership with 888, a network they already have the non U.S. World Series of Poker skin on, a Las Vegas casino company joining forces with a U.S. facing online poker room is a scenario few were expecting. Steve Wynn is a brilliant casino mogul. I don’t see him entering this unless Wynn has major benefits and he sees big money down the road.
It was even announced that Pokerstarswynn.com would be the future domain name for the U.S. online poker room. This will give Wynn major brand awareness in the coming years when the U.S. finally joins the rest of the Western world by embracing online poker. It also gives PokerStars a well known, high end partner. It leaves me to wonder if PokerStars players will be able to buy nights at Wynn and Encore from the PokerStars store even before there is ever a Pokerstarswynn.com.
This leaves me to ask the next question. Who will Full Tilt Poker partner with? I have a feeling talks are already underway between a brick and mortar casino company and Full Tilt Poker.
